According to the dance band Faithless, Maxi Jazz, a British musician best known as the lead vocalist, has passed away.

The DJ and musician, real name Maxwell Fraser, was a key player in the group, best known for the club hit Insomnia.

He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday night in his south London home, according to his former bandmate Sister Bliss.

Faithless were known for singles such as We Come 1, which peaked at number three in the charts in 2001, and dance hit Insomnia, which peaked at number three in 1996.

UB40, who played with Jazz in 2017, paid tribute to the singer by referring to the Insomnia single: "A nice guy, again who has gone too early.
