Death toll from Buffalo blizzard exceeds 30

Tuesday afternoon, there were still over 3,900 homes without electricity in Erie County, including nearly 2,700 in Buffalo.

The city, remained under a driving ban, while the rest of Erie County remains under a travel advisory.

Given the rising death toll, the thousands who remain without power, and police on the lookout for looters,

Clearing snow from the city's 800 miles of streets won't happen quickly, Buffalo DPW Commissioner said.

Emergency response personnel continue to work to clear roads, the death toll rises.

More people died in Western New York as a result of this storm than died as a result of the 1977 Blizzard.
