Correa's contract with the Mets is subject to a physical. Something came up during his medical with the Giants, causing the 13-year, $350 million contract with the Giants to fall through.

It was simply said that it was not a back problem, which had arisen earlier in Correa's career but had not kept him out of action in any of the previous three seasons.

"This makes a huge impact," Cohen remarked. "I thought our pitching was in good form. We needed another batter. This leads us to the top."

The Mets now have a club full of talent, including shortstop Francisco Lindor, slugger Pete Alonso, and pitcher Max Scherzer, in addition to all of the major moves Cohen and company have made this winter.
